Chameleons, local birds, and Olpikipik,

The famed chameleon. These are the chameleon whisperers. They can tell you why its turning various shade of green and what makes it angry. 

This is their protege whisperer. Although his other half seemed to be making it angry with the flashing camera- note the open mouth! 

This is a male with its three horns. I thought its opposing claws sort of looked like a sloth's two toes.

This little beauty is seen flitting around outside our window. It moves fast, thus the blurry hurried snap.

This is our ride these days- a Suzuki 185 dirt bike. Doug is enjoying it a lot- well, the challenge of riding on "olbaribara" ("the road" in Maa) in Nairobi. The bike itself has needed and continues to need a fair bit of work, but we've gotten to school 1-2 days a week on it. For me, I do a lot of praying, focusing on relaxing, and sometimes closing of my eyes, as we weave through sitting or moving traffic that understands rules of the road in a very different light than we're used to. Piki piki is the Swahili term for motorbikes. Like many words borrowed from Swahili, the Maasai  "Maa-ize" the words to fit into their language scheme so the name becomes "Olpikipik". Perhaps sometime we'll post a video of riding in Nairobi traffic.
