This road we decided was a river bed and not a road.

We live in a lovely place.

The neighbors upstairs have got to go. They come out in waves at 7 pm. 

Doug's been on a great baking kick!

A graduation party- not a common event. She was the first woman to get a four year degree in the area. I guess that merited a 6 hour ceremony-  food, tons of people and speeches galore, and then...

...a fundraiser for her to get started on her Masters studies. They have a caller that hams it up, announcing who gave how much money, as each passes by a counting table. Even though it seemed odd to us, it was clearly fun for the group.

The graduate was the youngest sister of our good friend, neighbor and co-worker Ann. Next to her is her husband Daniel who is helping Doug with language. In front is another friend of ours, Solomon, and then someone we don't know. Make note of Doug's elder stick or Ngudi Olpayiani.

We took a two night trip to hike Mt Longonot, a volcanic crater.

It felt so good to hike and to get to the top. The scenery was spectacular.

Our campsite was at the base. We hiked to the rim, then around the rim that you can see 1/4 of in the background and back down to the camp.

I call this fancy guy, the Willy Wonka bug. However, Doug learned that its just a locust.

As often as we can on Tuesdays, we walk the 9 km into Ewuaso, the closest thing to the closest town. It is the location of one of our partners. Because most folks don't drive, there are very developed walking routes everywhere. The first building on the right has a series of three blue doors. Our partner rents a space in the second door.

Doug has been doing a lot of computer training with our various partners. They are eager for as much as he can teach them. For most, a typing program is a good start and then on to the very basics from there.
