Last week Bike Trip

Last week we spent two weekends at my husband's parents home visiting with various collections of family. In between we took a 4 day bike trip through central Minnesota on one of the rails to trails bike trails.
Day 1 we rode 45 miles, stopping for dinner and a swim at one of the towns with a lake along the way.

Our second day, we had a campsite along the trail overlooking another lake. The mosquitos were so bad at night that they sounded like rain on the tent fly. When it indeed started to rain, the sound changed but we stuck our hand out the door of the tent (very quickly) to see if there were actual drops!

It was a relaxing trip, but it was also physically challenging to get our bodies back into biking shape.

At this rest stop, the grass was so tall it hid me from the camera as I'm resting on the ground.  Day 2 we biked 37 miles, Day 3- 37 miles, and Day 4- 45. We weren't able to finish an extra loop we'd planned to do so we rested Sat. back at the parental Homestead on Pine Lake. In order to finish, on Sunday we took a quick 3 hour 50 mile trip without any load of overnight supplies. We could tell we'd gained some biking fitness which was fun and we enjoyed seeing the beautiful Minnesota countryside with all its lakes, tiny towns, marshes and many many water birds.
