VISIT

So, its about time for you all to consider whether you’d like to come visit us.  You see, its not every day you know someone who lives and works among the famous Maasai of the Rift Valley in Kenya. For you, it could be an experience far beyond common commercial tourism.  

 The landscape is lovely with cliffs, river bluffs and sweeping views. The volcanoes are majestic and wild. To the east is the Rift Valley’s eastern escarpment, to the west, the double cratered Mt. Suswa. Sunsets and sunrises rival any in the world for their beauty; sunrise out the back door and sunset out the front.  Our little compound is alive with the music of birds that live in the Acacias and in the grasses.  Walking safaris abound just outside our back door. Taking off on a walk out the gate you could encounter zebras, baboons, Thomson gazelle, and perhaps even a giraffe depending on the time of year. 

Each morning you’ll be awakened with the sound of the cow bells jingling as the neighbor cows make their way around our fence and on to their daily grazing spot. The pace is as relaxed as you want to make it. Most of the Maasai around us live traditionally in a stick and mud manyatta built by the women. They are proud of their snug houses and so they should be. I'm sure any attempt of mine at  such a structure would collapse in a heap in a stiff breeze. 

There are many other amazing and beautiful places here in Kenya for you to venture to depending on your budget, from safaris to highland rainforest packed with unique birds and monkeys.  Then there’s the lovely coast with some exotic beaches. And of course there’s the big beautiful mountains: Kenya and Kilamangaro (though this is actually just over the border into Tanzania.)

We would love to have a chance to show you our world here.  But, its good to plan ahead since we can’t host all of you in the last 6 months, if you know what I mean...
