Change of Pace

Our work has been busy of late, doing lots of interviews (of 33 self-help group leaders and 4 applicants for field extentionist), having a big meeting with community group leaders, fixing the plumbing that the immediate community relies upon, dribbling water on our thirsty garden and trees,  editing reports, addressing miscommunications at board meetings, training our partners' staff on communication and project management, hiring the neighbor to put thorn branches around the compound to reinforce our fence to keep the cows and goats out,  and etc.

This next month we anticipate a change of pace since from Dec. 11-21 we have a development training for us (we get to be students), followed by an all East Africa Mennonite retreat.  All the workers from MCC, as well as folks working with Eastern Mennonite Missions and any other Mennonite organization in East Africa will gather for 5 days of retreat together in the cooler highlands NorthWest of Nairobi. I hope its refreshing to be around others who may share some similar experiences.
